Program

Individual arrival in Verona.

6 PM Bike fitting at Itinera Bike shop, if rental included.

Overnight in Verona.

From Verona you head South-East following the river Adige cycling on a bike path that crosses the Veneto countryside. Here, among immense cultivated fields and ancient rural house, you cross a few villages such as Bologna Veneta, city of the delicious mandorlato (nougat) and we finally get to Montagnana, a small medieval city surrounded by well-preserved old walls.

Overnight in Montagnana.

The itinerary approaches the foot of the Berici Hills and follows little road in the middle of the vineyards, passing though ancient villages with hundred-year-old villas that still feature beautiful frescos and lush parks. Before getting to Vicenza, the charming city of Andrea Palladio, the itinerary flanks one of his masterpieces, Villa La Rotonda.

Overnight in Vicenza.

The route leaves Vicenza behind and dives deep into the countryside, an area spotted with ancient rural houses and Venetian Villa, and goes towards the first elevation of the Prealps. On the way, the village of Marostica – surrounded by medieval walls deserves a visit because of the famous chess square, where every two year a living chess match takes place. Finally, the itinerary gets to Bassano del Grappa passing by Villa Angarano, designed by Andrea Palladio. Don’t get there too late, Bassano is a charming town at the foot of the mountains that features a famous wooden bridge.

Overnight in Bassano del Grappa.

The itinerary follows the river Brenta all day long. Initially, the river goes through the mountains along a green valleys that get more and more narrow until the itinerary follows a bike path that is flanked by the water of the river and the rocks of the mountains. The bike path continues in Valsugana, a large valley surrounded by high mountains, crosses cultivated fields and forests until it gets to Borgo Valsugana, a charming village overlooked by a castle.

Overnight in Borgo Valsugana.

The itinerary keeps following the Valsugana bike path until it reaches two lakes at the beginning of the valley. The route flanks Lake Caldonazzo and with a small detour it is possible to reach the little Lake of Levico: in both lakes it is difficult to resist the temptation of a dive in the refreshing water! The last miles of the route are downhill until the city of Trento. Dedicate some time to the visit of the city: the Cathedral of San Vigilio and the Castle of Buonconsiglio are unmissable.

Overnight in Trento.

Trento, a bike-friendly city, is crossed by river Adige. The itinerary follows the bike path that flanks the river, heading south: the valley is spotted with many medieval castles, visible from the bike path. The route passes by Rovereto, a charming old town, and then heads to Mori, from where the route gets a little harder. Still a few demanding climbs and then surprise: Lake Garda! After taking some pictures from the hills, the itinerary goes all the way down to the lake, it flanks the coast and it gets to the beautiful Riva del Garda. Don’t miss the ferry to Garda, the 2 hours of navigation are one of the highlights of the trip.

Overnight in Garda.

The route follows a bike path that runs along Lake Garda’s shore until Bardolino, a charming and living village famous for the production of red wine. A coffee in the old centre is worthy.

Now the itinerary heads inland and follows small roads though vineyards and olive groves on rolling hills until it reaches the river Adige bike path. The last miles are flat and safe, all along the bike path that finally leads back to Verona.
