Gentle rides in the tranquility of the Grado Lagoon and the Friuli hinterland
Easy cycling weekend based in Aquileia, exploring the small and charming villages of the hinterland of Friuli, where the UNESCO site of Palmanova stands out, and the Lagoon of Grado, where beautiful bike paths flanks the sea. On the first day we cycle inland, following bike paths and country roads surrounded by the fertile Friuli countryside, we visit charming villages that feature elegant villas and medieval buildings and the incredible star-shaped city of Palmanova. On Sunday we get to the sea crossing large cultivated fields, following small streams, until we reach Grado, a pleasant town overlooking the sea. The weekend is enhanced by a guided tour of the archaeological site of Aquileia, one of the most important cities of the Roman era, and by a wine tasting in a winery.

Dinner and overnight at Hotel Patriarchi*** in Aquileia.
We leave Aquileia behind and we cross the fertile Friulian countryside, cycling along narrow streets surrounded by large cultivated fields, where tranquillity reigns. We stop in Strassoldo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and in Palmanova, the famous star-shaped city.
Lunch break in a winery in the beautiful village of Clauiano: here we taste regional wines accompanied with typical products.
Once back in Aquileia, we visit the the famous Basilica and its wonderful mosaics with a guided tour.
Dinner and overnight at Hotel Patriarchi*** in Aquileia.
The itinerary follows country lanes flanked by small streams that cross an area of reclaimed lagoon, until we get to Punta Sdobba, where the river Isonzo meets the sea.
We follow a bike path that faces the sea until we reach the large beaches of Grado. We stop in Grado for lunch: the old town is a gem, with narrow and charming streets and beautiful old houses.
On the way back to Aquileia we pedal on a thin strip of land surrounded by the water of the lagoon: that’s the best way to end the weekend.

- Book online up to 30 days before departure: you pay the deposit (about 20% of the cost of the tour) and the extras.
- We’ll send you a link for the payment of the balance.
- Balance has to be paid up to 21 days before departure. In this moment we activate the cancellation insurance.
