From the city of Love to the city on the Water, crossing the best corners of Veneto region

The route crosses Veneto region from the west to the east, passing by many Unesco heritage sites, cities rich of art and Venetian Villas. We overnight in Verona, the city of the Arena and Romeo & Juliet, Vicenza, rich of beautiful building designed by the famous architect Andrea Palladio, and Treviso, a old city crossed by romantic canals, but also in the towns of Montagnana, surrounded by high medieval walls and built at the foot of the Euganean Hills; Bassano del Grappa, overlooked by high mountains and crossed by the river Brenta. We cross the Venetian Lagoon by ferry in order to experience a biking day on the islands of Lido and Pellestrina, from where it is possible to enjoy great views over Venezia: we spend two nights there. During the first day (optional) we explore the eastern side of Lake Garda, passing by the villages of Bardolino and Lazise. From Verona the itinerary follows the river Adige and after Montagnana it skirts the Berici Hills, the Prealps and the hills of Asolo, beautiful areas where you can find lush nature, old villages and elegant villas. Getting to Venice is exciting: after a great ride along the Sile river, surruounded by great nature, we cross San Giuliano Park in Mestre, where you can enjoy a fantastic view over the city, and we reach the old town cycling on the 4 km-long Ponte della Libertà, the only bridge that links Venice to the mainland. Then, we get to the island of Lido on a ferry-boat: by the water we admire the beautiful buildings of the city, San Marco’s Belltower and the elegant Palazzo Ducale. Finally, we explore the small island of Lido and Pellestrina. Our suggestion: extend your stay for one or two days in order to visit Venice by your own. The city is unique and it deserves some time to be discovered!
