Lessinia: cycling in the Alps

Pastures, forests, small villages, stories of an old population and a more recent war

We move up to the mountain with a short minibus transfer and we start cycling directly from the Lessinia Natural Park, the pre-mountains just above Verona. Forests, huge meadows in bloom and great panoramas are the theme of this full day tour in the mountains. We cross ancient stone-made villages, typical of the area, and high-altitude roads without any effort, thanks to our excellent e-bikes. During the hot summer days, it’s fresh up there! We stop in Malga Lessinia, an alpine hut that produces cheese. We visit the cheese factory, then we taste the cheese and finally we eat the typical dish of the mountain: the gnocchi sbatui, simple gnocchi made of flower, water, cheese and butter. After lunch, we enjoy the long road downhill towards the minibus.
