SELF GUIDED BIKE TOUR
The best gravel roads of Verona and Lake Garda
Three days by bike on the rolling hills that surround Lake Garda, riding on beautiful gravel roads surrounded by the gorgeous countryside spotted with stone-made farmhouses, ancient churches, vineyards, olive groves, medieval villages and great panoramas over Lake Garda. We base in a nice village in the hinterland and we cycle three itineraries, ideal for gravel bike: the routes are not only for gravel and off-road experts, but also for first-timers, the dirt roads are pretty smooth and the itineraries go slightly up and down. The gastronomy side of the trip is one of the highlight: let be tempted by the numerous wineries and trattorias along the routes to savor a glass of Lugana or Bardolino and some local dishes.

This route explores the area of the moraine hills around Desenzano del Garda, graceful town facing on Lake Garda. The itinerary follows nice dirt roads surrounded by beautiful countryside until it gets to Desenzano del Garda: the town centre features a charming port and a pleasant promenade. After some up-and-downs, the itinerary first crosses the village of Lonato, overlooked by a majestic castle, and then reaches Castiglione delle Stiviere, a beautiful hill town. The route goes back to Pozzolengo following dirt roads in the countryside, spotted with ancient churches and typical farmhouses.
Overnight in Mozambano or Pozzolengo.
The itinerary visits the hills in the southern side of Lake Garda, characterized by many beautiful medieval villages. The first village on the way in Solferino, famous for the Italian independence war’s battle and featuring a beautiful lookout from where to enjoy a great view over the hills, lake Garda and the mountains. The itinerary continues in the countryside and reaches first Cavriana, then Volta Mantovana (and its beautiful palace and garden) and finally, following a dirt road flanked by a canal, Borghetto sul Mincio, a fairy-tale village crossed by river Mincio. Before getting back to Pozzolengo, the route passes by Castellaro Lagusello, a nice village that features a heart-shaped lake.
Overnight in Mozambano or Pozzolengo.
Today’s ride heads towards Lake Garda eastern coast. After reaching Peschiera del Garda, nice village that faces the lake, the route goes towards the hilly hinterland, where the hills are covered by vineyards and olive groves. After some up-and-downs on dirt roads, the itinerary gets to Lazise, one of the most beautiful towns on the east side of Lake Garda. After visiting Lazise, the route flanks the nice coastline until it gets back to Peschiera del Garda and then, before getting back to Pozzolengo, it passes by the graceful village of Ponti sul Mincio.
