Dinner and overnight in Verona
The first ride leads us to the green surroundings of Verona, for a Valpolicella wine tasting with light lunch. Back in the city center, short walk tour to the cooking school for a captivating cooking class, where to learn how to cook the local receipts, like the risotto!
Second overnight in Verona.
The itinerary goes out Verona following the Adige bike path, that flanks the calm course of the river, surrounded by the cultivated farmland. The landscape changes completely once the route heads north, towards the hills: there the hills’ slopes are covered with vineyards and olive groves, the perfect place for a break in a winery for a Valpolicella and Soave wines tasting! After a few up-and-downs on the hills, the route finally reaches the medieval village of Soave, overlooked by a castle that embraces the ancient town with massive walls.
Overnight in Soave.
The route leaves Soave behind and enters Valdalpone valley, covered with immense vineyards that perfectly grow thanks to the volcanic soil. The wine here produced are particularly mineral, there will be the opportunity to taste them in a panoramic winery on the hills. After the tasting, the itinerary heads south, towards the Berici hills, an off-the-beaten-tracks destination, a verdant area made of rolling hills on which bottom little hamlets and elegant Venetian Villas lie. The route ends in a magnificent Venetian Villa, now converted in a hotel.
Overnight in Bagnolo di Lonigo.
Today’s ride starts with a stroll in the countryside of Vicenza, following an ancient railroad now converted into a safe bike path that lies right between the Berici and Euganean hills. The itinerary then reaches the Euganean hills bike path, that runs at the bottom of this ancient volcanos. The bike path winds among these verdant cone-shaped hills, passing by Venetian Villas, ancient abbeys and tiny hamlets. In the area some great beer is also produced: a break in a local brewery is a must-do! The itinerary ends in Montegrotto Terme, located in an area rich with thermal baths: a dive in the hotel’s pool is the perfect ending for this cycling day.
Overnight in Montegrotto Terme.
The cycling day starts with a really relaxed mood, as the itinerary follows a bike path that flanks a canal that leads directly into the city center of Padua. The city is bike-friendly and there is a lot to see and taste here: a gourmand break in a historical cafe is included in the itinerary. After the visit of Padua, the route continues following the Piovego canal that then enters the river Brenta: many Venetian Villas faces of the calm waters of the river, the visit of one of them is a nice cultural add-on to this day. Today’s destination is Mira, small town that lies on the shores of the river Brenta.
Overnight in Mira.
The itinerary keeps following the river Brenta course, then passes by Mestre and approaches Venice with an exciting ride on the Ponte della Libertà, the only bridge that connects Venice with the mainland. It is not possible to cycle in Venice, but the main islands of the Lagoon of Venice are a great destination for bikers. After a ferry transfer the itinerary continues in Lido island: a bike tour in the best osterias of the island is included, in order to taste some great cicchetti (tapas). The route then continue in Pellestrina island, where it is still possible to see the real fishermen of Venice, and ends in the beautiful Chioggia, a sort of “little Venice”.
Last dinner and overnight in Chioggia.
After breakfast, pick up of the bikes and end of services.
