From Lake Garda to Venice by bike

From 795 €/person
April–October Max. 64 km/day Min 2 pax

From the city of Love to the city on the Water, crossing the Veneto region from East to West

The route starts off touching the waters of Lake Garda and visiting the unique Verona. We head to Montagnana, surrounded by high medieval walls and built at the foot of the Euganean Hills; then we overnight in Vicenza, rich of beautiful buildings designed by the famous architect Andrea Palladio; we reach Bassano del Grappa (yes, grappa!) embraced by mountains; the old Treviso crossed by romantic canals and eventually reach the sea, enjoying a great view over Venice. The itinerary, mainly in the flat land, skirts the Berici Hills, the Prealps and the hills of Asolo, beautiful areas where you can find lush nature, old villages and elegant villas. We'll reach Mestre by bike. From there Venice is only 10 minutes away by train. With an extra bike day, you can explore the Venetian Island of Lido and Pellestrina; why missing a final bath in the Mediterranean sea?

From the city center of Verona, we bike towards Garda Lake among vineyards and olive trees. The view on the lake is wonderful: a charming blue mirror among high mountains. We visit the villages of Garda and Bardolino, and then back to the City of Love.

Overnight in Verona.

From Verona we head east following the river Adige, cycling on bike paths and small country roads. We stop in Cologna Veneta, city of the delicious mandorlato (nougat) and then we get to Montagnana, a small medieval city surrounded by well-preserved old walls.

Overnight in Montagnana.

We cycle from the flatlands to the foot of the Berici Hills along little roads in the middle of the vineyards, passing through ancient villages with hundred-year-old villas and parks. Before getting to Vicenza, the charming city of Andrea Palladio, we visit from outside one of his most famous masterpieces, Villa La Rotonda.

Overnight in Vicenza.

The route winds in the countryside of Vicenza and approaches to the foot of the Prealps, an area rich of rural houses and elegant Venetian Villas. We stop in the walled city of Marostica, famous for its living chess event and square, and in Villa Angarano, designed by Andrea Palladio: there we taste their nice organic wines. Finally we arrive to Bassano del Grappa crossing the well-known wooden bridge and enjoying the beautiful view over the mountains.

Overnight in Bassano del Grappa.

We skirt the lush Monte Grappa and the hills of Asolo, then we follow bike paths along streams of spring water until Castelfranco Veneto, a walled city famous for being Giorgione’s hometown. We get to Treviso following a shady bike path built over a old railway.

Overnight in Treviso.

From Treviso we follow the windy Sile river on a beautiful bike path, deep in the green of the woods, just interrupted by some noble Venetian Villas that reflect on the clear water of the river. We reach Mestre passing through San Giuliano Park, a green area with a great view over the Venezia.

The bike itinerary ends in Mestre. Venezia is only 10 minutes away by train.

Bring the bikes back to Verona by train (less than 2 hours away) or add the extra service for the pick up at the Hotel in Mestre.
